Volunteer

If you would like to work with animals (walking dogs, grooming, etc.) please call the shelter at 605-226-1200 for details on how to participate! Minimum age is 12 years old.  Any volunteers under 18 will need a parent or guardian signature.  Court appointed community service is not accepted.

Anyone wishing to volunteer at the shelter should call and sign up for Volunteer Orientation.  Orientation will be held once per month. Next class will be held Saturday, April 24th, from 2 to 3 PM.  Volunteers will be given a tour of the shelter, introduced to staff, have duties and safety equipment demonstrated, and have rules and procedures outlined.  All new volunteers must attend orientation prior to volunteering at the shelter.

If you wish to volunteer for such things as fund raising (2nd Paw Sales, Bow Wow Boogie, membership drives, bake goods for activities, etc) please call Esther Thistle at 605-225-6920 or   Denise Bahmuller at 605-226-2330.

If you wish to help us with any form of maintenance at the shelter (carpentry, yardwork, painting etc), please call Mel Thistle at 605-225-6920.
